山西地方铁路集团有限责任公司于2003年由山西省地方铁路局依法改制成立，是省属大型地方铁路运输企业，经营业务主要为省内地方铁路基本建设及客货运输管理，铁路专用线的社会共用服务管理，省内地方铁路的煤台建设与经营管理，大秦铁路煤炭集运站的建设、设备管理、配件经销、维修及人员培训，经销铁路专用物资、旅游开发、经济信息咨询等。

集团自组建以来，紧抓铁路运输主业，同时做强煤炭运销和铁路专用线行业管理两大业务，不断转变经营理念、扩大路网规模、拓展业务范围、完备基础设施、强化安全管理，运输能力及收益逐年提升，各项工作都取得了显著成效，为山西省煤炭运输业做出了应有的贡献。

Shanxi Local Railway Group Co., Ltd. was restructured in 2003 in accordance with the law from the former Shanxi Provincial Local Railway Administration. As a large provincial‑affiliated local railway transport enterprise, its core businesses include capital construction of local railways within Shanxi Province, passenger and freight transport management, public service management of dedicated railway lines, construction and operation management of coal loading yards on local railways in the province, as well as construction, equipment management, spare parts sales, maintenance and personnel training for coal collection stations along the Datong‑Qinhuangdao Railway. It also engages in the sales of special railway materials, tourism development, and economic information consultation.

Since its establishment, the Group has focused on its core railway transport business while strengthening two major segments: coal transportation and sales, and industrial management of dedicated railway lines. It has continuously updated operational concepts, expanded its railway network scale, diversified business scope, improved infrastructure facilities, and enhanced safety management. Its transport capacity and revenue have grown year on year, with remarkable achievements made in all areas. The Group has made due contributions to the coal transportation industry of Shanxi Province.
