The 3rd Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "International Shipping Expo",TISIE) will be grandly held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin). The Port and Shipping Equipment Zone will gather global leaders in port machinery, intelligent logistics equipment, green shipbuilding technologies, and digital solution providers, showcasing cutting-edge innovations to drive efficient and low-carbon development in the global shipping industry.
National Pride: Hardcore Technologies Leading Shipping Efficiency
Port automation and intelligent shipbuilding are pivotal to the global shipping transformation. At the TISIE 2024, industry giants including China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), CNOOC, and CIMC showcased groundbreaking marine equipment such as the "Ocean Oil 122," "Hai Kui No.1," "Hai Ji No.2," "Deep Sea No.1" platforms, new-energy-powered vessels, and "zero-carbon" aquatic service zones, demonstrating China’s technological prowess in marine engineering. Notably, CIMC’s "Blue Whale 1" and "Blue Whale 2" ultra-deepwater drilling platforms, capable of operating at depths of 3,658 meters with a drilling reach of 15,240 meters, represent the pinnacle of global marine engineering, bolstering China’s international competitiveness in port and shipping equipment.
Blockchain Innovation: Reshaping Efficiency with Low-Carbon Tech
The Port and Shipping Equipment Zone will highlight advancements in shipbuilding, port machinery, and green technologies. At the TISIE 2024, COSCO Shipping Group unveiled its flagship innovation—the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN), the industry’s first non-profit blockchain-based trade data platform. By leveraging decentralized, transparent, and tamper-proof technology, GSBN has revolutionized traditional workflows. COSCO’s blockchain-powered paperless cargo release service reduced document processing time from 48 hours to under 4 hours, achieving over 90% efficiency gains. This innovation minimizes operational risks through smart contracts and has processed over 2 million cross-border transactions across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Future plans include expanding GSBN into electronic bills of lading and carbon footprint tracking, accelerating the industry’s digital and decarbonization transformation.
Global Collaboration: Unlocking New Market Opportunities
The expo serves as a bridge for international industrial cooperation. In 2024, 65 key projects worth nearly RMB 40 billion were signed, covering green port development, shipping finance, and capacity expansion. Notable agreements include Minmetals Development Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Port Group’s joint green raw material production base, and COSCO’s green methanol trading initiatives. These projects underscore Tianjin’s role in fostering a "technology-application-industrial cluster" ecosystem.
Through cutting-edge technology displays and cross-industry collaboration, the expo will continue to open international cooperation channels, propelling the shipping industry toward greater intelligence, sustainability, and efficiency, while injecting momentum into a new global shipping ecosystem.
